THIS WEEK’S COMEDIANS
From a blue collar background, Nick Beaton cuts through the bullshit of an overly bureaucratic society that takes itself way too seriously. Whether it’s done through his opinionated rants, hard hitting jokes, or his disarming “every man” personality Nick Beaton is a favorite wherever he performs. He has performed on 3 continents, 6 countries, and over 40 cities. His recent Edinburgh Festival show received glowing five star reviews, from both “Broadway Baby” and “Three Weeks,” the latter of which described him as having, “enviable confidence, timing, and manner of a comedian with decades of experience beyond his years.” He has performed at Montreal’s International Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, the Icebreakers Comedy Festival and has received numerous accolades for his comedy, including being a myspace featured comedian and winning the 2007 Just For Laughs Toronto Homegrown Competition, as well as being nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards including one for his comedy special that aired nationally in Canada.
Ted Morris always looks like he’s having the most fun in the room when he’s on stage. His intelligent, off-beat humour and wickedly charming smile lets us all know that our slightly warped thoughts are just fine. He’s equal parts boy-next-door and boy-your-mother-warned-you-about with just enough boy-you-want-to-hang-out-with-at-the-party-to-laugh-at-everyone-else-with (and know you’re safe!) to keep things interesting.
Born in Ottawa and now making his home in Toronto, Ted discovered his love of stand-up while getting his degree in veterinary medicine. While he still spends some time working as small animal vet, his comedy career is taking off and he has found that it’s much more gratifying to “kill” on stage. He’s been called “fresh faced and hilarious” and “a real gem” by Now Magazine, and slightly ruder things by strangers in the street.
Ted currently tours Canada working for Yuk Yuk’s, the largest chain of comedy clubs in the country. A favourite of the festival circuit, he has performed at the “We’re Funny That Way” (Toronto), London, Halifax, Winnipeg, Glasgow, Sudbury, Out of Bounds (Austin, Texas), Laughing Devil (Atlanta, Georgia), North Carolina Comedy Arts, NXNE (Toronto) and JFL42 (Toronto) Comedy Festivals, and can be heard around the world on SiriusXM and CBC Radio’s The Debaters and LOL.
Jeff has quickly established himself as a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene and was nominated for a prestigious Canadian Comedy Award. Jeff is also a favourite on the festival circuit having appeared at the CBC’s Winnipeg and Halifax Comedy Festivals and the Icebreakers Comedy Festival. As well, he can be heard on XM Satellite Radio and has appeared three times on The Being Frank Show. As a writer, Jeff freelances for several major advertising agencies and does script consulting for Disney.
When he is not winning over audiences and readers with his outstanding writing, Jeff can also be seen in his many commercials. He has appeared in international campaigns for many large companies such as Budweiser, Honda and Canadian Tire.
Regardless of the medium, Jeff is an undeniable talent that should not be missed.
