Great SpiritsGreat Spirits (Thurs. Jan 16 @ 8:30PM)

Al Aguilar, Joel Jacobs and Todd Taylor collectively known as Great Spirits, is a three-piece fusion group founded in London, Ontario with members hailing from Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver, respectively. Their sound can be described as an eclectic mix of Rock, Funk, Jazz, and R&B. Formed in late February of 2017, the band has already gained a loyal following of music aficionados within London and The Greater Toronto Area. The group’s inception began when Al Aguilar, a seasoned bass player new to London from Los Angeles, met Toronto-based drummer Joel Jacobs at a Jam at East 765 Bar. The two hit it off almost immediately with an intuitive interplay of bass and drums. Shortly after, Vancouver guitarist Todd Taylor met Al at a show at the London Music Hall. The two talked about common musical interests and both being new in town, decided to set up a jam with Joel, who had also moved back to London to open his music school Junction Beats. As they say, the rest is history. The three musicians were in sync. Playing off each other effortlessly, they made their debut and almost immediately caught the attention of London’s musical elite. The name Great Spirits comes from a love of good company, great drinks, positive energy and a reverence for those that have come before.

Discover your inner power while watching a dance showcase performed by the team at Phoenix Fitness for the Arts. The theme for their performance is Powerful - tapping into the power of human connection/ physical power/emotional power!

More About PFA:
The happy beginning of PFA began in the early spring of 2019, owners Kayla & Sarah found themselves searching for the same thing, a studio to call home. Coming from fitness backgrounds, as well as instructing jobs, and having the desire to continue their love of movement throughout their 30’s, they both came to chatting one day about these aspirations and goals. Kayla had been one of the performers in Sarah’s performance Heels company and each one admired the others creativity, strength and drive, the harmonious balance within the friendships was immediately apparent. Merging the aerial world with the dance world seemed to be a perfect collaboration and, in the summer of 2019, they dove in head-first and began renovating the beautiful studio we now call PFA. Come February, they will be starting the very first adult Aerial & Dance Performance Company and will have their first show as BLK STILETTOS in June 2020.

Connor MorandConnor Morand (Sat. Jan 18 @ 3PM)

“Fitting a mold is not something I’m interested in.”

In many ways, Connor Morand has broken his own barriers throughout his musical journey. Originally born in London, Ontario, Morand developed an appreciation for all musical genres very quickly. Beginning as a folk artist, he searched to find his own artistic identity while still maintaining his love of diversity.

Enter Morand’s 2017 release of “Everything Is Gold / Believe”, a double-single project that showcased his ability to transcend into the alternative pop realm. The release was promoted with a stunning around-the-world music video for the lead single, “Everything Is Gold”, which spans 60 locations and four continents over six months of filming. This caught the attention of multiple TV and radio networks across Canada, including MuchMusic, CBC, CTV and Global News.

While many suggest that Morand continue to ride on the success of that release, he is more interested in continual craft development, the mark of a true artist. His newest single, “94 Corolla”, is a hip-hop infused pop track that explores the idea of life’s biggest moments happening in familiar, average spaces. Specifically, two lovers entrenched in a moment of potential heartbreak in a 1994 Toyota Corolla.

The song was co-written and co-produced with fellow Canadian artist UNBLOOM, whom Morand has also worked with to co-write and perform as guest vocalist on UNBLOOM’s 2019 release “Best Believe”, a hook-driven electro-pop banger that has been described as “impressive (Atwood), “outstanding” (LeFutureWave), and “thoughtfully crafted” (The Music Mermaid).

Morand has a lot to be thankful for, and continues to create thought-provoking, powerful records that are a breath of fresh air in the vast musical landscape.
