A pair of Canadian race calling icons were guests of Ghislain Paquet on the Wednesday, May 5th edition of Passion Courses on Facebook Live www.facebook.com/ghislain.paquet.9/videos/10158504147759227.

“What a show,” said Paquet. “To be on the air with these two legendary voices of Canadian harness racing was a very big thrill for me. I was more excited than a child at Toys R Us!”

Jean Desautels’ career spans over 30 years and he has treated fans with his unique bilingual calls for close to 58,000 races. A great majority of those race calls took place at Blue Bonnets with occasional appearances at other tracks in Quebec, the Maritimes and even Florida.

Frank Salive came on the show at about the 1 hour and 46 minute mark… “I have loved his work for over 40 years of my life,” remarked Salive on Desautels - recalling the race and call of Matts Scooters victory in the Prix D’Ete.

Salive also mentioned that he’d be calling races again in Ontario, this summer, with some action at Clinton Raceway. “I hope to be there on May 30th for my first assignment there,” said Salive. “I’ll be back at Fort Erie for a sixth year this year and hoping that opening day can be June 1st as scheduled.”

Passion Courses celebrated it’s first anniversary, back in February, with Hall of Fame guest Mike Lachance. You can view that show here www.youtube.com/watch?v=h01tO9vCDMQ.
