Here they come!

It’s almost post time for a harness race in North America… It’s been way too long!

Going behind the gate first will be Scioto Downs (Columbus, OH) this Friday, May 22, with a Race 1 post time of 6:30 ET - without spectators… One of my favourite half-milers - Northfield Park (Cleveland, OH) - will start back on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00 ET - again without spectators.

It’s the new horse racing world we’ll be living in for the months ahead - live racing without spectators… Here’s wishing all the tracks, returning to action, the best of luck with their product going forward and good luck to all the racing participants as well - I’ll be watching!

Hello old friends!

March 18 would be the final race night at The Raceway and I was starting to miss some old friends - so I took a drive up around Melbourne Fair Grounds this past weekend… That’s over 8 weeks without seeing a live horse in front of me - so to meet up with London regulars’ Oldfriendskentucky, Deadly Action and a few others - well it was just what I needed…

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” - Winston Churchill

My pal Chase Graham was proud to show me his favourite horse Deadly Action. Both boy and horse looked very happy in each other’s company.

Oldfriendskentucky started 55 times in 2019 - so this break, in his routine, is not quite the norm… “He’ll be all right, but the last time he was away from the races - it took some time for him to find his form,” said owner/trainer Steve ‘Ribsy’ Roberts. “It’ll be nice to get back to racing soon.”

Clinton Race Office To Reopen

Horse people are advised that the race office at Clinton Raceway will resume operation next week.

The office will reopen on Monday (May 25) at 8 a.m., and a schedule for qualifying races will be published by the end of the week.
