Free virtual Food Literacy program for students in grades 3-8, full of interactive resources to showcase the local food system!
Register and join us for a free virtual program where we will learn about the local food system in Ontario! This program is designed to show you how the food we eat gets from the farm to our plates and give you an inside look at some of the businesses and people that make that happen. This year we will be working with Growing Chefs! Ontario to explore the following stages: Production, Processing, Distribution & Retail, Consumption, and Disposal.
This program is perfect for teachers connecting with students in their classrooms or those in a home learning environment!
NOTE: this program is designed for Elementary grade students (grades 3-8).
- Access to a live Q&A session on May 11th @ 10am with local tomato farmers – hear directly from the source as to how they grow their tomatoes, what they do on an average day, availability of tomatoes, and more!
- Access to an extensive resource library with educational videos, worksheets, and activities for you to try in the classroom or at home
- Food-focused demonstrations and downloadable lesson plans from Growing Chefs! Ontario
