Job description

Responsibilities of Snow Removal Equipment Operators include:

  • Grounds maintenance such as salting of parking lots, plowing of parking lots, repairing potholes, filling of salt bins, plowing of sidewalks, salting of sidewalks and picking up of garbage from lots
  • May support racetrack maintenance crew with preparation of racetrack during heavy snow accumulation
  • Maintain WFD logbooks - winter maintenance, underground services maintenance, equipment and vehicle log
  • May perform minor mechanical repairs such as welding and painting - as required
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe.
  • Operate and maintain various vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
  • Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair District Health & Safety Policy and Awareness Program/Safety Manual
  • Must comply with Western Fair District policy and procedures and any other applicable legislation
  • Other related duties and required or assigned

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work under little to no supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid G driver’s license with clean abstract – Class D an asset
  • Experience associated with snow removal for industrial and commercial properties is an asset
  • Experience with loaders, tractors, dump trucks and plowing, is an asset
  • In-depth understanding of equipment operation and hydraulic accessories

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed while standing, sitting, or walking
  • Continuous bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
  • Regular lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of medium weights up to 50 lbs
  • Environment - moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, possible exposure to dust and dirt
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule as hours will vary depending on snowfall.
