COVID-19 Statement: Western Fair District Cancels Upcoming Shows
Yesterday, we announced that all operations were continuing as normal, but that we would be monitoring the situation. Today, the Western Fair District has announced the cancellation of its three upcoming shows in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Speed and Custom Show, National Poultry Show and Home and Outdoor Show – set to take place over the next 30 days – will not happen as scheduled. Event Staff are exploring opportunities to reschedule these shows in the future when it is appropriate.
The decision to cancel this year’s Poultry Show was made in consultation with the Poultry Industry Council and was based on today’s recommendation of the Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health, regarding the immediate suspension of all large events and public gatherings of over 250 people.
Refunds for anyone who purchased tickets to any of these shows will be processed beginning on Monday.
“In the interest of public health and safety, we are following the recommendations of our various health authorities,” said CEO Reg Ash. Other venues in the District, such as the Market, the Sports Centre, and the Raceway will continue operations while it remains safe to do so.
Western Fair District is monitoring the situation updates being provided by the three relevant levels of public health in Canada – the local health unit (Middlesex London Health Unit), Ontario Health, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
