THIS WEEK’S COMEDIANS
Since entering the Yuk Yuk’s Search for Canada’s Funniest New Comic years ago, Laverty has been nominated 4 times for a Canadian Comedy Award. In December 2014, Shannon was named as a top host of the year in Now Magazine by comedy critic Glen Sumi. She has traveled from Vancouver to St. John’s. In 2001, Shannon toured Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, South Africa. Some of her favorite shows have been at community fundraisers and Military posts. In October of 2006, she performed at a NATO base in Germany and hopes one day to travel the world performing for all of the military personnel.
Shannon’s recent TV and radio credits include: Laugh out Loud (CBC Radio), Winnipeg Comedy Festival (CBC), Listed (MuchMoreMusic), Club 54, “Fruitopia Comedy Funfest” at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland (broadcast on CKVR-TV), The Movie Network’s Pay-Per-View comedy special Mondo Taboo 2, She’s So Funny and Funny Girls on the Woman’s Television Network, Comics (On CBC - appeared in 2 ‘B’ roles) and Yuk Yuk’s - The Radio Show on the Telemedia Network. Shannon has also made numerous appearances at the Molson Canadian Toronto Comedy Festival.
Laverty’s on stage persona is proud to be provocative. Her Mae West come-hither attitude will draw you in and her flirtatious delivery has been embraced by both sexes.
Jeff has quickly established himself as a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene and was nominated for a prestigious Canadian Comedy Award. Jeff is also a favourite on the festival circuit having appeared at the CBC’s Winnipeg and Halifax Comedy Festivals and the Icebreakers Comedy Festival. As well, he can be heard on XM Satellite Radio and has appeared three times on The Being Frank Show. As a writer, Jeff freelances for several major advertising agencies and does script consulting for Disney.
When he is not winning over audiences and readers with his outstanding writing, Jeff can also be seen in his many commercials. He has appeared in international campaigns for many large companies such as Budweiser, Honda and Canadian Tire.
Regardless of the medium, Jeff is an undeniable talent that should not be missed.
Fast thinking, quick witted and gayer than a picnic basket bought with a three dollar bill, Richard Ryder takes the stage with a refreshing energy and “no holds barred” attitude that audiences welcome again and again. No topic is too taboo for this Toronto native whose comedy is fresh, fast, funny and a constant source of embarrassment to his family. Which is exactly how it should be.
No stranger to TV, Richard’s Comedy Now on The Comedy Network is one of the network’s most popularly replayed episodes to date. He’s also the host of the international hit TV series Knock Knock Ghost which can be seen on OUTtvGo in Canada.
Richard’s brilliantly eclectic humour has also been featured on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, CBC Radio 1’s Accent On Toronto, Q107 where he won their Funniest Person With A Day Job. As if this weren’t enough, Richard can also be seen live, working the comedy circuit throughout Canada and the States.
All kidding aside, Richard must be experienced live. He’s a hoot!
