This Week’s Comedians
A former resident of Vancouver, Canada, Pete made his first forays into Hollywood after a wildly successful Just For Laughs Festival in Montréal, where he signed a deal with Warner Brothers Television after appearing on one of the smaller shows. Soon after Pete made his network debut on NBC’s Friday Night and followed that with the lead in the independent film Mixed Signals with Jason London and Brook Langdon. He has his own comedy special on Netflix and has appeared on This Isn’t Happening! on Comedy Central.
Pete moved to the UK in 2008 and quickly became a favourite with audiences around the country. He is a regular at the renowned London Comedy Store venue (where he recorded his live CD), has been invited on Radio 4’s prominent Loose Ends and appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) in 2010. Pete has performed alongside Stephen Merchant, Stewart Lee, Simon Amstell and even had the rare opportunity of closing for Jerry Seinfeld in the Comedy Store in 2011. He bagged a starring role opposite Ed Byrne in BBC4’s Sex Bombs and appeared on Channel 4’s Brighton Best of the Fest.

Hailing from the East Coast of Canada, Kyle Hickey has truly been making a name for himself as one of the top rising comedians in the country – entertaining audiences with his clever joke writing and natural charisma. A talented writer, actor and comedian, Kyle has been featured on MTV’s, Losing It, was a regular on the YTV show, Undercover High and has most recently recorded his first taping for the CBC’s Halifax Comedy Festival. Kyle’s stand-up can often be heard on SuriusXM’s channel, Canada Laughs, playing bits from his debut album Experimental Phase which went to number one on iTune’s in it’s first week of being released. Performing as part of the ‘New Wave Night’ for JFL42 in Toronto, Kyle has also performed at such festivals as LOL Sudbury, NXNE, Halifax Pop Explosion and Icebreakers Comedy Festival, put on by CBC Radio’s LOL.
Not yet convinced that Kyle is good from his self written bio? Well check these out then, ya jerk!
“Kyle Hickey, a relative newcomer (to Toronto), whose sincere accounts… had the audience in stitches.” - Torontoist.com
“With his act covering everything from long-distance relationships to crazy parties and college stereotypes, the students found it was an act to remember.” - Algonquin Times
“He’s the greatest stand-up comedian to ever come out of my body!” - Kyle’s Mom
Dave Atkinson was born in a hospital, raised by humans and educated by disinterested Catholics in Marathon, Ontario, a mining and pulp town once described as “there” by many geographers.
After graduating high school he stowed away on a CN boxcar and made his way to the city where he did a whole bunch of book learnin’ and started telling jokes to strangers in basements.
There were also stints at a national park, gold mine, and lumber yard in there somewhere. He has also been in some plays and published some short stories and started eating salad. His Dad is, to say the least, confused.
