London, Ontario, March 11, 2015: Western Fair District (WFD) is excited to launch a new road race series titled RUN THE DISTRICT, presented by New Balance London, London City Chrysler and PowerAde. The five race series will take place throughout 2015, and each race will begin and end in the District. The five events will be tied to themes relevant to activities in the District, growing the organization’s sports entertainment products and developing new running opportunities for racing enthusiasts in London and surrounding communities. Local charities will be tied to each event so runners can lace-up and race for a cause if they wish. Charities will be announced for each race via the website www.runthedistrict.ca
Starting May 31, 2015, WFD will launch the first of five races, a 5K titled the CHUCKLE RUN which promises a hoot enroute for all participants. The new RUN THE DISTRICT race series will offer entertainment bonuses as an enhancement for runners looking for new race experiences. “We believe these new races will be a positive experience for all ages and all abilities,” said Heather Blackwell, Director of Corporate Affairs, WFD. The running series will be managed by WFD Race Director, Steve Ryall, with all races beginning and ending in the District, providing participants food, prizes and a chance to be entertained along the way. The race series is designed to be fun, entertaining and encourage sports and fitness in the communities WFD serves. “We look forward to the response from participants throughout the race season as we add another new experience to WFD’s be entertained brand,” said Blackwell.

Good BBQ is a religious experience and so is running. We’ve marinated the two and cooked up a saucy fun run that promises fitness, fun, food and good times with friends. The first Run to the BBQ is a 5K early evening run that will celebrate the start of the summer season. Follow your nose to the finish line which you will find at the Beer and BBQ Show, runners receive a complimentary admission to the event along with sample tickets, you’re going to have an ale of a good time with all your (19+) friends and fellow runners. Cold craft beers, brisket, sausage, and ribs all taste great on patios everywhere this summer, but none will compare to the experience of a 5K and friends at London’s hottest summer soiree.
