We are currently seeking a part time League Convenor to join our Sports Centre team!

The League Convenor has the responsibility of working in a professional/efficient manner within the Western Fair Sports Centre and the London and surrounding area ice sports/business community. This position will be involved in the development, delivery, marketing, promotion, and growth of the Western Fair Sports Centre Leagues and in house programs in the areas of Ice Sports.

What you’ll BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
  • Being a brand Advocate for the District

  • Creating and Managing of all internal leagues, and camps. (Adult Summer and Winter Leagues, Youth Summer League and Youth Summer Camps.)

  • Organizing schedules, stats, and staffing for the leagues. Including referee services.

  • Assisting with other in-house programming – Tournaments (High School, Dealership, Shoot & Swing) and Learn to Skate Programs.

  • Dealing with any issues that arise within the leagues (scheduling issues, disciplinary issues, problem with coaches etc.)

  • Ensuring league teams/individuals meet payment requirements.

  • Working with league partners to ensure the best value is being had and everything is being done to enhance our customer’s experience (Pointstreak, OLG)

  • Working with league and program participants on ways to continuously improve our leagues/programs and ensure we are offering the best experience for our customers.

  • Marketing and promotion of leagues to maximize participation.

  • Maintaining related databases and files related to the position.

  • Assisting in coverage of front desk and perform Guest Services duties as needed

  • Seeking new customers and work with existing customers on league or program sponsorship opportunities.

  • Reporting to the Business Manager bi-weekly on overall performance of the programs and sponsorship initiatives, identifying challenges relating to overall performance

  • Assisting and maintaining promotional material throughout the City of London and surrounding areas

  • Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair Association (District)Health and Safety Policy and Awareness Program, all Western Fair Association (District)policies and procedures, including any other applicable legislation

 
Our ideal candidate:
  • Post-Secondary education in Sports Administration, Marketing, or related field is preferred.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and leadership skills.

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • 1-2 years Supervisory experience.

  • Previous Arena or Sports setting experience an asset.

  • Highly organized individual with experience organizing and executing leagues and/or tournaments.

  • A commitment to excellence in all tasks, and a professional presence

 

Working Conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
