All Gave Some. Some Gave All. Lest We Forget
The Military’s - Department of National Defence occupied the Western Fair District, specifically Queens Park, for training and recruitment during World War 1 (1914 – 1918) and World War 2 (1939 - 1947). To commemorate the long and proud history Western Fair has with the Military this memorial is established to honour the service and sacrifice of Canadians of all walks of life who have served this country at sea, on land, and in the air, at home and abroad, in times of conflict and in times of peace. For those who never returned to these shores, for those who suffered and still suffer, and for their brothers and sisters who survived unscathed, this memorial stands to remind all Canadians of their dedication and service. They gave of themselves, knowing the risks, accepting the costs, offering service before self. They served well, doing Canada proud; they came from every creed, colour, and culture that has made this great country their home. They shall never be forgotten.
