Western Fair Tickets On Sale Today!

Posted Date:
Tuesday, August 2, 2016

The gates are just over a month away from opening and you can almost see the sights, hear the sounds, taste the food and feel the thrill as tickets go on sale and all the 2016 Fair fun is announced.

Parents, tots, families and friends will make lasting memories at the Fair as the new and long-time favourites arrive this September. From Acts in Adrenaline Alley to story time in Imagination Park and the Rawhide Rodeo at Down on the Farm all the Western Fair entertainment is FREE with admission!

Here’s what awaits:

Thrill Zone and Lil’ Thrill Zone

Last year’s bigger and better midway is back! Enjoy the adult “Thrill Zone’s” 29 rides. You can cool off as you experience the Niagara Falls Water Flume or get your heart pumping as you reach record speeds on the Mach 3 or the Mega-Drop Tower.

Lil’ Thrill Zone will once again welcome children with 23 kid-friendly rides. Visit www.westernfairdistrict.com for height restrictions and to plan your ticket requirements.

Imagination Park

Imagination Park will come to life this year as your FAIRytale favourites captivate your kids.

Animals of Wizardry will keep toddlers and tykes spellbound! After meeting your favourite fabled stars of page and screen throughout the park, take your photo with story-time favourites; watch Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine; enjoy interactive, live action comedy with “A Pirates Adventure” or stop by the Teddy Bear Hospital to meet Dr. Goodbear! Also featured in Imagination Park will be Old MacDonald’s Farm where little ones can pet furry farmyard friends and ride the Pony Trail.

Down on the Farm

Where are the Farm Animals? Take a trip to the Metroland Media Agriplex Agriplex where Down on the Farm education and fun can be had by all.  Take-in the Western Horse Show, 8-horse Clydesdale Hitch, Rawhide Rodeo, 4H Shows with youth in agriculture, and our new Agriculture timeline display that tells the story of farming from the 1700s to today.  Learn about growing your own food, dairy, beef, sheep, crops and more.  Don’t forget to enjoy a bite to eat in the Country Kitchen while you visit the farm!

All ages will enjoy the dynamic diversions from the rides and food when they take a seat at one of the many exciting live shows available daily. Adrenaline will be pumping with non-stop action while you witness the incredible aerial stunts of the Nerveless Nocks. Bigger and better this year is the iFlip trampoline show and the X-Pogo stunt team with championship pro-athletes flying over 10-feet in the air on their extreme pogo sticks. Terrence B the Hypnotist is back again with his unpredictable show of mesmerized volunteers acting out his every command.  Will you be hypnotized?

Local Tastes and Talent

Some of the finest talent we have to offer locally and regionally will take the Jack Richardson London Music Awards Stage, inside the I Love Local tent, during the Fair’s 8-day run. The I Love Local tent will feature local bands, local suds (craft beer) and sides of local cuisine prepared onsite for you to sip and savour as you celebrate local.

Young, up and coming performers will be centre stage in the Rise2Fame youth talent competition on the Anne Eadie Stage.

The CCMA Awards will take over the Fair Saturday September 10th with Fanfest where some of Canada’s best and brightest country music stars will take the stage in the Metroland Media Agriplex.

Showcasing local talent is a fair tradition in the Community Arts Competitions. Categories from visual arts to horticulture will be on display with ribbons and prize money awarded to the best-of-the-best.  Some old-favourites are back in the agriculture section! Check out the largest pumpkin and tallest sunflowers in the Progress Building.

Day of Dreams

New this year is the Day of Dreams, which will take place during the day of Wednesday September 14th prior to our gates opening to the public. Children aged 3-12 with special needs can enjoy the Western Fair at their own pace. The day will include a free lunch, a souvenir, local celebrities, professional athletes, pirates and more! It is a perfect way to help create lifelong memories for those who might have otherwise missed out! Application through local support agencies only, deadline is August 31st.

Warrior’s Day

Saturday September 10th marks the Warrior’s Day Celebration which will recognize and celebrate the irreplaceable contribution Military facilities have made and continue to make. As a token of the Western Fair’s appreciation all retired or serving military personnel will receive free admission with proof of service.

Mascot Day

Once again Mascot’s from around the region, and our community, will flock to the Western Fair to mix and mingle with Fair attendees. Catch them throughout the Fair from 3pm – 5pm on Wednesday September 14th.
