Warriors’ Day will be held on Saturday, September 10, to celebrate and commemorate the long and strong connection between the Western Fair, our serving military and the many sacrifices and contributions of war veterans.

This year’s Warriors’ Day theme is “Celebrating our Military Families”.  This day will recognize the sacrifices that families make when their loved ones serve our country.

As a token of the Western Fair’s appreciation, all retired or serving personnel will be given free admission at the gates on September 10th with proof of service.  Fair patrons are encouraged to wear red on Warriors’ Day and military personal will have poppies available at the Fair gates.

Military groups, Legions, museums and other organizations, will showcase displays in the Progress Building and at the Anne Eadie Stage to educate the public on past and present activities and recruit new members.

At 1400h, Western Fair and Military officials will perform their own special ceremony to remember our Military, fair patrons are cordially invited to join the festivities. The ceremonies will take place on the Anne Eadie Stage in Queen’s Park. The program will include the opening ceremonies, a welcome from Mayor Matt Brown, remarks from Don Denne the Executive Director of Military Family Resource Centre, music from the London Firefighters Band, the 31st Sea Cadet Hamilton Band, London and 27th Air Cadet Band and the Ingersoll Pipe and Drum band.

Adding to the appeal, displays will include a WWII Sexton Gun Tank, a cannon, military vehicles and a photo airship among other military items.
