With a forecast of sunny skies and wall-to-wall entertainment the 142nd edition of the annual Western Fair moves into its final weekend and welcomes the community to make memories at Western Fair District’s signature event. Whether guests are returning for the 2nd time with their $5 bounce-back coupon or making their first Fair appearance of the year there is plenty to fill the weekend across the grounds.
The Grandstand will open up to welcome back Freestyle Motocross and the Demolition Derby. Both fan favourites brought back by popular demand. Across the street, the Western Horse Show will wow all weekend long from Friday open through Sunday evening and guests can go ‘Down on the Farm’ to take in milking demonstrations, Clydesdale hitch and parade and barrel slot racing bringing rural life to the city. Back across the road at the expanded Down on the Farm Park kids can join in the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull or learn about farm life at Cowboy Fred’s C-More Country Corral.
Local talent will be in the spotlight for the final three days of Fair as the Rise2Fame competition draws to a close on the Anne Eadie Stage. The ‘I Love Local’ tent will showcase London and region’s top musical talent with the sounds of rock, country, blues and roots and a side of locally sourced cuisine served-up by Western Fair District Executive Chef, Neil Mackay.
Old meets new in the Progress Building as fair-goers can take in or learn some square dancing just a stone’s throw from the final weekend of the eSports 5,000 square foot tournament play and viewing space. All skill levels welcome for Rocket League, Madden 17, and Halo 5 free-play in the lead up to Sunday’s open entry Rocket League tournament.
Not to mention the classic fair favourites that will continue in full swing with over 20 carnival games and a midway that continues in full force with 50 plus rides. All the midway fun can be enjoyed 50% off on Sunday when the Ride-All-Day bracelet is purchased on site.
