The gates are just over a month away from opening and you can almost see the sights, hear the sounds, taste the food and feel the thrill as tickets go on sale and all the 2016 Fair fun is announced.

Parents, tots, families and friends will make most lasting memories at the Fair as the new and long-time favourites arrive this September.

Here’s what awaits:



Last year’s bigger and better midway is back! Enjoy the adult “Thrill Zone’s” 29 rides. You can cool off as you experience the Niagara Falls Water Flume or get your heart pumping as you take records speeds on the Mach 3 or the Mega-Drop Tower.

Lil’ Thrill Zone will once again welcome children with 23 kid-friendly rides. Visit www.westernfairdistrict.com for height restrictions and to plan your ticket requirements.



Imagination Park

Imagination Park will come to life again this year as your fairytale favourites take over.

Little Ray’s will have all the animals of Wizardry or you can meet your favourite stars of books and screens. Whether you are getting a photo with your story time favourites or watching Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine you will be sure to have a wonderful FAIRytale adventure. Don’t miss interactive live action comedy with “A Pirates Adventure” or take a stop at the Teddy Bear Hospital to meet Dr. Goodbear! Also featured in Imagination Park will be Old MacDonald’s Farm where the little ones can pet some furry friends or take a ride on the Pony Trail.



Can’t get enough of the animals? Take a trip Down on the Farm where you can experience a taste of country life. Whether you are catching a bite to eat in the Country Kitchen or the OBBO Horse Show you won’t be disappointed. Down on the Farm will also feature the 8-horse Clydesdale Hitch, Rawhide Rodeo, 4H Shows as well as lots to learn as you take a walk donw our Agriculture timeline all the way back to the 1700s.




All ages can be entertained by one of the many exciting acts each day. Adrenaline will be pumping with non-stop action while you witness the incredible aerial stunts from the Nerveless Nocks. Bigger and better this year are the iFlip trampoline show and the X-Pogo stunt team with championship pro-athletes flying over 10-feet in the air on their extreme pogo sticks. Terrence B the Hypnotist will be back again to entertain and leave you in awe.



Local Talent

Some of the best talent we have to offer locally and regionally will take the stage during the Fair’s 8-day run. The I Love Local tent will feature local bands with a side of local cuisine prepared onsite for you to enjoy alongside some of the best craft brews from the region.

Young, up and coming performers will be centre stage in the Rise2Fame youth talent competition daily on the Anne Eadie Stage.

The CCMA Awards will take over the Fair Saturday September 10th with Fanfest where some of Canada’s best and brightest country music stars will take the stage in the Metroland Media Agriplex. This free event will have back-to-back performances by fan-favourite acts.

Local talent will also be showcased in the Community Arts Competition. Categories from visual arts to horticulture competitions will be hosted as we bring back some of the old-favourite competition from largest pumpkin to tallest sunflower.



Day of Dreams

New this year is the Day of Dreams. The Day of Dreams will take place Wednesday September 14th and will be a time where children aged 3-12 with special needs can enjoy the Western Fair at their own pace. The day will include a free lunch, a souvenir, local celebrities, professional athlete, pirates and more! It is a perfect way to help create lifelong memories for those who might have otherwise missed out! Application deadline is August 31st.

Warrior’s Day

Saturday September 10th will be Warrior’s Day Celebration which will recognize and celebrate the irreplaceable contribution Military facilities have made and continue to make. As a token of the Western Fair’s appreciate all retired or serving military personnel will receive free admission with proof of service.

Mascot Day

Once again Mascot’s from around the region and the community will flock to the Western Fair to mix and mingle with Fair attendees. Catch them throughout the Fair from 3pm – 5pm on Wednesday September 14th.
