We made memories...

The midway has been carefully packed away to their portable form, the gates are no longer manned with friendly faces and the smell of deep fried food no longer lingers in the Florence and Rectory area.  It is always sad to say goodbye to the ferris wheel that dons the London skyline for ten fantastic days.

The end of the fair represents the end of a season and another year to look forward to. I perpetually imagine how much my son will have grown by the next time the fair is in town, whether that be by height markers at each ride, or his actions, this is always something I give thought to as the fair closes for the year.

Even though I expected the common growth, this year I was blown away.  My child, who used to cry on the fire truck ride, was now lining up for every thrill ride his 48 inches of body would allow him on.  There he was with people twice his height – teenagers, lining up without an ounce of apprehension.

It can be a hard pill to swallow, almost bittersweet.  While it is nice that he has ventured out into these larger rides, it suddenly occurred to me that he is going on rides that I am afraid of and that I may have to ride some of these rides with him.  Oh how I miss the days of kiddyland and bumble bee rides!

I want to thank the Western Fair and Rogers for allowing me to blog for you guys.  We had some wonderful experiences at the fair this year and it has been a lot of fun sharing them with you.
