Shannon Moyer-Szemenyei - Run The District Ambassador

I Run the District because I want to show my kids that you don’t have to come first, top 10 or even top 50 to feel amazing and proud. Running is about personal accomplishment and challenging yourself, not racing and beating anyone else.

I Run the District because I can. It’s  not about personal bests or records, it’s about getting out there and getting moving. Running is not only great exercise but it’s great therapy too. And I love the Run the District events because if I want to go all out its chip timed, but if I just want to enjoy the course with my friends and kids the races are fun and welcoming for everyone!

I Run the District because the themed races are motivating and the swag rocks!

When I started running it was a means to an end. I needed to get healthier and be more active, and running seemed liked the easiest way to do that.  I downloaded a Couch to 5k training plan, and I took off.  It didn’t take long before I was hooked. I Run the District because running makes me feel better about myself. I feel accomplished, healthy, energized, and motivated – and I get to experience that pretty much in my backyard. It doesn’t get much better than that!

I Run the District to run with my son and enjoy some laughs, good eats and treat and perhaps set a PR or two together! I started running 4 years ago as a way to stay healthy, and was fortunate enough to inspire my son to join me on Mother’s Day in 2015. Chris has caught the racing the bug and we are thrilled to Run the District together this year!

Why do I Run the District?  Run the District has something for everyone! It is a great family oriented run series that I can enjoy with the kids; Run a competitive 5K; have fun at the post race entertainment. I love to support the local events to help make London a strong Running Community!

I started running because I enjoy staying active and running is such a convenient and easy way to do so. Not only is it a great destresser but I always feel more motivated and accomplished after a run and a race.  I Run the District because the races are a lot of fun and you can add your own level of competitiveness to them. Whether you run to set a PB, for the awesome treats or both these races are always a lot of fun!
