Music is back taking center stage at the annual Western Fair as new mainstage act and local acts are announced:
London, Ontario – August 16th, 2017:
Music is back and in full force at the annual Western Fair this year. As host to concerts and music acts over the past 142 years Western Fair has welcomed everything from small, up and coming local acts, tribute bands to big name concerts on the mainstage. Concerts have been an integral part of the Fair creating a unique experience for Fairgoers as they step off the midway and make memories for generations of attendees.
Whether experiencing a concert for the first time or seeing a favourite act come to London, music has always been a fair favourite. “My best Western Fair concert memory is 98° and Jessica Simpson in 1999, I was 10 years old. It was my first concert ever, my mom took me and my two cousins. It was so packed, and so loud from all the girls screaming for Nick Lachey! We loved it!” explained one of these year’s ‘Face of the Fair’ winners, Courtney.
The annual Western Fair has also been a breeding ground for talent as acts who have performed on Western Fair’s stage have carried on to be big names in the music industry. This year the I Love Local Tent and the opening acts on the mainstage in the Metroland Media Agriplex will welcome local talent and acts that are starting to take the music scene by storm.
The Metroland Media Agriplex welcomes concerts back to the fair this year with four nights of performances. Kicking things off with Canadian alternative rock group 54•40 on the mainstage as they bring their unbelievable catalogue of hit songs to the Fair. Opening for the group will be London native Sarah Smith bringing her pop/rock sound to get the crowd ready for 54•40.
LOCASH will bring their chart topping sound and hit singles, giving country fans the opportunity to get down to two of Nashville’s fastest rising singer-songwriters. Their smash No. 1 hit “I Know Somebody” topped Billboard Country Airplay and Country Aircheck after their RIAA Gold-Certified “I Love This Life” single ascended to the top of the charts.
Opening for LOCASH will be rising star and Ontario-native Eric Ethridge who has exploded on the country scene. Ethridge performed at the 2014 annual Fair and has since experienced huge success going on to win the 2016 CCMA Discovery Award. “Playing the Western Fair with Brett Kissel will always be one of the most memorable performances of my life. It was that opportunity which ignited my passion for live performance early on in my career and lead to so many other great experiences. I’m so grateful to be back this year with LOCASH!” said Ethridge.
Keeping the cowboy boots stomping will be “War Paint” songstress Madeline Merlo as she warms the crowd up for Cam who will bring her Grammy nominated hit “Burning House” to the stage as they turn the Fair into a country party.
JUST ANNOUNCED to round out the 4 days of mainstage acts are The Sheepdogs who will bring their steadfast commitment to rock n’ roll excellence to the Fair September 14th.
Also putting the spotlight on local music acts will be the I Love Local tent. Featuring the sounds of rock, pop, blues and country.
