We are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to join the District team!

Reporting directly to Assistant Accounting Manager, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing data entry and a variety of duties in the Finance Department. 

Responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk:

  • Brand advocate for the District. Sets the example on what it means to be a District employee: Proud, energetic, imaginative, highly principled, team-driven and dedicated to the organizations mandate, image, goals and objectives.

  • Invoicing for all facility rentals, exhibitors and sponsorships for Western Fair District

  • Maintain invoicing for the Sports Centre and reconcile monthly with secondary software

  • Maintains an accessible, orderly, complete filing system for reference and research

  • Daily collection and organizing of company mail

  • Recording of all payments made to the organization (credit cards, bank deposits)

  • Monthly summary of credit card expense reports

  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Purchasing departments

  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its customers.

  • Performs related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.

  • Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends

  • Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Western Fair District Health & Safety Policy and Awareness Program/Safety Manual, all Western Fair District procedures and any other applicable legislation 

  • Other related duties as required or assigned  

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accounting Diploma/Certificate preferred, or working towards certification

  • Experience with Accpac (Sage 300 ERP) an asset

  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements

  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail

  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software

  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognizing responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.

  • Good customer service and organizational skills

  • Analytical thinker, and the ability to prioritize

  • Attention to detail in all areas of work

  • High level of personal integrity

  • Strong work ethic

  • Self starter

  • Confident, consistent, decisive personality

  • Flexible work schedule (during events and fall Fair)
