Why no concerts?
Music is still a big part of the fair’s entertainment experience, our focus continues to be on our community’s home-grown music scene, local artists and musical entertainment. Headline artists and concerts are now part of a new music strategy WFD has embarked on. Our new strategic direction for music, will focus on large outdoor concerts throughout the summer months rather than during the fair.
What is WFD’s music strategy?
The Western Fair District embarked on the beginning of a new strategic direction in the area of Music on August 5th with our most recent outdoor concert - Van Halen. Going forward, WFD will focus on large summer outdoor concerts in the redeveloped infield venue as we work towards our long term vision of being the Premiere outdoor summer music venue in Southwestern Ontario.
What music will be available at this year’s fair?
The OLG Music Stage will offer premiere cover bands every evening (the most popular tribute acts in Canada) throughout the fair, local artists and bands will continue to be highlighted during the 10-day event and our very popular Rise 2 Fame competition, which showcases youth preforming from preliminaries across the region, will provide semi and quarter final highlights with artists competing for top-spot at Western Fair.
Local Bands – each day of the fair a local band will take the main OLG stage located on the Midway and open for our headline tribute acts.
Live Tribute Bands throughout the fair on the OLG Music Stage: (Shania Twin, We Walk the Line, Hot Rocks, Hotel California, The Dixie Chicklets, Practically Hip, Tim E. Hendry, Rattles and Thunderstruck.)
