Western Fair District is delighted to announce their new partnership with Growing Chefs! Ontario.
By means of a $30,000.00 investment, Growing Chefs! Ontario’s school-based programming will be delivered as Western Fair District Presents: The School Food Education Project. This project will serve over 3,000 students at select schools across London and area.
Western Fair District is one of the first major London-based organizations to support Growing Chefs! Ontario to this level. The opportunity for the partnership was clear to both organizations, as the recently released Middlesex-London Community Food Assessment has identified the need to help community members develop a better understanding and appreciation of our local food system. “Western Fair District’s partnership with Growing Chefs! Ontario is a great vehicle to bring agri-food education into the classroom. With an innovative approach and proven impact Western Fair District is excited to join Growing Chefs! Ontario in the delivery of the School Food Education Project throughout the community in London and region” described Mike Woods, COO, Western Fair District.
As partners in food and agricultural-based education, both Western Fair District and Growing Chefs! Ontario are looking forward to demonstrating new ways in which community organizations and local businesses can work together to create lasting change in our communities. “We’re beyond thrilled at this opportunity to partner with the Western Fair District. They are an established leader in this sector and we believe that by working together, we can better serve the needs of the community,” explained Andrew Fleet, Growing Chefs! Ontario Executive Director.
The partnership will kick off on Thursday, October 6th at the Covent Garden Outdoor Farmers’ Market.
