Assistant Market Manager

The Assistant Market Manager is responsible for assisting the Market Manager in the operation of a thriving market with a key focus on business growth and on-going development of positive customer and vendor relationships. The Assistant Manager will focus on customer and vendor relations, administrative duties and providing oversight and accountability on market days with the highest respect for safety and well-being of market customers and vendors.


The Market at Western Fair District is a vibrant gathering place bringing community, food and artisans together. Offering a wide range of seasonal ingredients, unique vendors and artisans, The Market supports Western Fair District’s vision of creating unique experiences that build positive memories.  With over 100 vendors, The Market at Western Fair District is currently open every Saturday from 8am – 3pm. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Available and onsite during Market operating hours to ensure smooth operations.  

Actively develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers.
Proactively and positively represent and promote The Market in the community.
Strategize to increase the Market’s customer base and business activity.
Publish ongoing editions of The Market newsletter.
Assist with the development and execution of marketing and promotional plans.

Assist with maintenance/update of the market website/blog and social media accounts.
Perform administrative duties including answering enquiries, timely rent collection along with other required information, analytical duties and research.
Ensure a clean and safe environment.

Position Requirements:

A person with integrity, positive energy and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Possesses a creative personality.
Strong interest in sustainable and local agriculture.
Clear and organized work habits and flexible.
Strong social media skills.
Ability to deliver creative content. 
Good analytical skills.

Other Responsibilities:

Work as a team player promoting a positive and professional work environment and conduct role with integrity and respect.
Act as an Ambassador throughout the Community, positively representing the Western Fair District.
Abide by the policies and procedures of Western Fair District
Other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of the Western Fair District

Physical Demands:

Lifting 20 kgs. where required.
Frequent standing and walking.
